About autism

Autistic people see, hear and feel the world differently to other people.

Autism is a lifelong condition that affects how people perceive, communicate and interact with others.

Autism is a spectrum condition. This is because of the different ways it can impact  people and the type of support they may need. Some autistic people need very little or no support in their everyday lives, and others may need a high level of care.

Support from the Council

If you've had an autism diagnosis and you're struggling with daily tasks, you can request a care needs assessment.

Most people have to pay towards any care they receive.
