Sutton Council to get pupils back to school
Sutton Council and all state-funded schools in the Borough have signed up to London’s Inclusion Charter. The charter set up by the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) aims to improve access to education and drive up attendance to keep young people safe and supported.
Sutton Council saves £400,000 by extending library hours
There are now over 80 community groups - ranging from Tai Chi and calligraphy classes to dementia support, chair yoga, Scrabble and reading groups - all making full use of the spaces and extended opening hours in Sutton's Libraries. Sutton Libraries lead The Libraries Consortium, which means more books than ever are available to residents - at a time when other councils are closing libraries - ours are getting busier than ever.
Council owned children's homes receive "Good" rating in Ofsted inspection
The London Borough of Sutton’s children’s residential homes, have received an overall “good” rating in their recent Ofsted inspection. Willow Rise first opened in July 2020, forming a key part of the Council’s plan to address the lack of accommodation for children in care.
