Recognising the impact of rising bills, the government is distributing £100 million of new grant funding in 2023-24 for local authorities to support economically vulnerable households in their area with Council Tax bills.
Local authorities will use most of their funding allocations to reduce Council Tax bills for current working age and pension age Local Council Tax Reduction (LCTR) claimants by up to £25.00. You have to be in receipt of Council Tax Reduction on 01 April 2023 to qualify.
The remaining fund will then be used to further support vulnerable households with Council Tax bills.
An additional award of up to £20.00 will be awarded to every Council Tax Support recipient taking the total amount awarded to £45.00 (or the total amount of their Council Tax liability if that is under £45.00).
If you are in receipt of Council Tax Reduction there is no need for you to contact us as the reduction will be automatically applied to your council tax bill for 2023-2024.
This page will be updated with further information on the scheme as soon as it is available.
