One week to go to enter ideas for our Neighbourhood Fund

The Neighbourhood Fund is a great opportunity for residents to share their ideas on the projects they would like to see happen across the borough. Projects can range from the renovation of a community centre, planting of trees or the installation of new play equipment in your local park.

The fund is made up of a portion of money we receive from new developments in the borough and we use this funding to support one-off  projects to help improve local areas across the borough.

Over the years we have funded some excellent projects including a new roof at the Diamond Centre riding school, the creation of new plots at the Wandle Side allotments, as well as adding a new course at Grove Park mini golf.

It’s great to hear about the projects we support via the Neighbourhood Fund and so if you have been wanting to make an improvement to your local area, now is your chance to get some funding to make that project happen.

You can find out more about the Neighbourhood Fund and how to apply via our website

Speaking of making our borough an even better place to live, earlier this week 11 of Sutton’s wonderful parks and open spaces were awarded Green Flags.

The Green Flag is a highly prestigious award and recognises the very best parks in the country.

I am very proud that we now have a record-breaking eleven in Sutton and I would like to personally thank our parks team, the contractors and most of all our wonderful volunteers and friends groups who dedicate so much of their time and hard work in making sure our parks are such beautiful spaces that can be enjoyed by everyone.

I hope as we head into the summer holiday that you get a chance to visit our parks and enjoy them. The Green Flags will be flying.
