Throwley Yard Cinema opens two new screens

Throwley Yard, the new independent cinema in Sutton town centre, has opened two new screens, bringing its total to four. 

As well as showing major blockbuster films releases, visitors can now see a broader range of titles. Popular favourites include 90s set cult horror ‘I Saw the TV Glow’, as well as engrossing drama ‘About Dry Grasses’, Turkey’s entry to the 2024 Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. 

The independent cinema, bar, cafe and shared community space at Throwley Yard offers a mix of movies, open mic nights, workshops and concerts. Fun for all ages, it includes an impressive line-up of baby-friendly shows, accessible screenings, Fun Sized Kids Club, Silver Screenings for seniors, National Theatre Live productions, staged concerts and the latest film releases. 
 
Councillor Barry Lewis, Leader of Sutton Council, said: 
"It’s fantastic to see the popularity of Throwley Yard growing, with two additional screens being opened to show a bigger variety of films. With blockbusters, classic films and international screenings, it means there really is something for everyone.

“I love that companies like the Really Local Group want to bring their mix of the arts and entertainment to Sutton. Our borough is now a place where businesses want to invest and people want to live. 

“Sutton is coming alive and I know we are going to see more great businesses becoming part of the Sutton Scene.”

The project has been funded by the Government's Future High Streets Fund and Council investment.
