Fly-posting is the illegal display of posters, stickers, and advertisements on walls, buildings, and other surfaces without permission. We will remove all unauthorised fly-postings as part of our street inspections, but you can help us keep the London Borough of Sutton clean and attractive by reporting any instances you see.

How to report fly-posting in public areas

The council will remove fly posing from public areas such as underpasses, buildings and other public areas managed by us. We will aim to remove fly-posting within 5 working days once reported. We can't remove fly-posting from property owned by Transport for London.

Please provide as much information as possible to help our team locate and remove the fly-posting quickly:

  • Location
  • Description
  • Photo (optional)

Report fly-posting

What Happens Next?

Once you submit your report, our team will investigate the issue as soon as possible. Please note that removal times may vary depending on the location and complexity of the task.

Fly-posting on private property

Businesses and shops are responsible for removing fly-posting from their own property. To help prevent fly-posting, we suggest you remove it quickly and often, as vandals are then less likely to target you. We won't remove fly-posting from private property unless it is racist, offensive or abusive.

Fly-posting on other structures

Railways

We can't remove fly-posting if the property is inaccessible without trespassing.

You can report it by calling 0845 711 4141 or report it online to Network Rail.

Street utility boxes

Street utility boxes are the responsibility of the phone or electricity company that owns them.

You will need to report any fly-posting to that company.

If you're not sure who owns the utility box, most have a manhole cover in front, which will have the company name on it.

Bus shelters

You can report this on the Transport for London website.

Phone boxes

You can report this on the BT website.
