How the local community has been involved
We value community involvement. This has been our approach to engagement and has played a part in developing the proposals for Elm Grove. Empowering local people to get involved has been key in creating our vision and shared priorities for the area and also in agreeing to our commitments to Elm Grove residents.
Engagement with the community has been ongoing since 2017.
This has involved:
public meetings and face-to-face conversations, including one-to-one home visits, virtual meetings and resident steering group meetings, drop-in sessions and surgeries
co-design workshops, consultation events and exhibitions
keeping residents informed through our newsletters and website
site tours to see other regeneration schemes
working together to select an Independent Residents’ Adviser
collaboration through the estate options appraisal process to establish full redevelopment as the preferred options
co-production of a Residents Charter and Community Charter to agree on local priorities and a shared vision for the estate and to agree on a Landlord Offer that set out the council’s rehousing and compensation commitments to the residents of Elm Grove.
balloting residents on the regeneration proposal, resulting in 78.6% voting ‘yes’ to the redevelopment of Elm Grove
Lovell launched its first consultation on the regeneration of Elm Grove on 18 November at The Sound Lounge.
Local residents and stakeholders were invited to meet the delivery team, view the evolving plans and to provide their feedback.
This marked the first in a series of upcoming consultations to develop the outline plans into more detailed designs that will be submitted for approval in the summer.
