Wednesday 8 March marks International Women’s Day.
The London Borough of Sutton is celebrating seven amazing women doing work across the borough to uplift other women, young people, and the Tamil and African and Caribbean communities to name but a few.

An evening with Jacquie Davis

Don’t miss an evening with Close Protection Officer, Jacquie Davis, who is the inspiration for the new Netflix series, ‘Close’. For over thirty years Jacquie has survived as one of the top operators in a male-dominated profession — the secretive, often dangerous world of being a bodyguard — or to give the profession its proper name, close protection officers. Thursday 9 March: FreeNow X presents Hannah White, Michele Stodart, Daisy Chute, Holly Carter & Emma Holbrook, celebrating women's voices in music
Friday 10 March: Continuing the celebration, join musicians and songwriters, Lucy Farrell and Hannah Scott
Saturday 11 March: Rock on with SLADY, the world's first all-female tribute to 70's glam rock legends Slade!

Power of Women (POW) Evening

Sutton Women’s Centre is hosting Power of Women (POW) - an evening dedicated to giving women a stage on which they can perform and celebrate being women. The evening will include a range of inspiring female artists from dance, comedy, music, poetry and art. Book your ticket via Eventbrite.
March is also Women's History Month. Follow the Sutton Cultural Services blog for fascinating stories about the Muller Sisters (previous and long term residents of Whitehall Historic House Cheam) and how they would have been affected by the women's liberation movement.
