Christmas and New Year collections

Recycling and waste collections for residential properties in Sutton will take place later than usual over the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 period. 

Check our list for your new collection date.  

  • Wednesday 25 December: your new collection day is Friday 27 December
  • Thursday 26 December: your new collection day is Saturday 28 December
  • Friday 27 December: your new collection is Monday 30 December
  • Monday 30 December: your collection is Tuesday 31 December
  • Tuesday 31 December: your collection is Thursday 2 January
  • Wednesday 1 January: your collection is Friday 3 January 
  • Thursday 2 January: your collection is Saturday 4 January
  • Friday 3 January: your collection is Monday 6 January
  • Monday 6 January: your collection is Tuesday 7 January
  • Tuesday 7 January: your collection is Wednesday 8 January
  • Wednesday 8 January: your collection is Thursday 9 January
  • Thursday 9 January: your collection is Friday 10 January
  • Friday 10 January: your collection is Saturday 11 January

Collections of recycling and waste return to normal from Monday 13th January 2025.

Real Christmas tree collections

Our dedicated real Christmas tree collection service will operate from Monday 6 January to Friday 17 January. We aim to recycle as many trees as possible.

  • Put your tree out on your scheduled general and garden waste collection day during this 2 week period.
  • Take your tree out of the pot and remove all decorations otherwise we won't be able to collect it.
  • Put your tree as close to the front boundary of your property, visible to the collection teams and not blocking the pavement.
  • If you live in a flat, place your tree outside the bin store but do not block access to it.

Alternative ways to dispose of real Christmas trees

Cut it up and place it in your garden waste recycling bin if you have a subscription.
Take it to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) to be composted. Don't forget to book your visit to HRRC.
