If you’d like to present a petition to a Council meeting, you must make a request in advance.
You’ll need to submit the petition to the Council online at least 14 days before the meeting. You’ll receive a reply within 10 working days of receipt explaining how your petition will be dealt with.

Your petition will need to have enough signatures before it can be considered.
A petition must have:
Petitions should only be signed by people living, working, or studying in the borough. A carer can act on behalf of someone who lives in the borough.
We will contact the organiser of the petition with information about how the Council intends to respond. If the petition does not have a petition organiser, the first-named signatory to the petition will be contacted.
You can present your petition yourself at the meeting, or a Councillor can do this on your behalf. You can contact a Councillor and discuss your petition with them.
You or your spokesperson can talk to the petition for up to five minutes at the meeting.
