The Phase 2a Garage Sites Redevelopment programme has delivered a mix of 28 flats and houses on 5 sites across the borough. At four of the five developments we have regenerated old garage sites that were no longer fit for purpose and with the fifth site at Wellesley Court being underutilised land between existing properties and the main road.
The programme has continued the council’s vision of delivering high quality, energy efficient, tenure blind social housing at affordable rents. All of the properties delivered in this phase have been let at London Affordable Rent levels, as determined by the Mayor of London and we are grateful for the funding support of the GLA to assist in the financing of this scheme.
These properties have a low carbon footprint and are the first the council has constructed with triple glazed windows and energy efficient air source heat pumps, helping to lower the costs of heating the home and reduce fuel poverty.
In addition we have installed solar panels at all sites and electric car charging points at Assembly Walk.
Councillor Gemma Munday and Councillor Paul Cole commenting on Bisham Close
‘We were excited to visit the new properties on Bisham Close for social tenants. The homes are ready for families to move straight into, they are attractive, bright and airy, with modern features, including an environmentally friendly heating system. We hope the new tenants will enjoy living in these lovely homes.’
Councillor Cumar Sahathevan on Otway House
‘Lots of thoughts have gone into the design process and the end product is excellent. I am really impressed….In my humble opinion the project has delivered exceptionally high standard dwelling for 6 small families.’
