This scheme will extend and redevelop the Council’s existing Gypsy and Travellers site in Carshalton, to deliver a total of 23 pitches. The site will include 23 amenity blocks, alongside a community hall, communal amenity space, additional planting, refuse and recycling facilities, substation, parking and better access.
The programme aims to address the immediate need of additional pitches for the Gypsy and Traveller community in the borough, which is set out in the Council’s Local Plan and we are grateful for the funding support of the GLA to assist in the financing of this scheme.
Proposals of this development will improve living conditions for existing and future residents of the site. It has also been designed to consider the surrounding context, architecture and views from public paths. The scheme aims to be carbon zero with energy efficient building materials and systems such as photovoltaic panels.
Planning permission was granted in March 2023 with completion expected to be in March 2026.
